Reimbursements for living donation
Here you will find information about the reimbursement of costs you incur when donating a kidney or part of your liver. Most costs you incur are reimbursed.
Medical expenses
Your health insurer covers medical expenses related to the kidney or liver donation, such as examinations, the surgery, and check-ups. There is no excess (deductible).
Expense reimbursement via NTS
Do you incur costs during the process for, for example, travel or parking expenses, childcare, or hiring household help? You can receive reimbursement for these expenses via the NTS.
Retention of income
If you are temporarily unable to work due to the donation, you can apply for compensation for your lost income. This applies to both salaried employees and the self-employed.
Need help with reimbursements?
The social worker or coordinator at the hospital is happy to provide an explanation and help you apply for reimbursement. Do you have a question about the NTS reimbursement?
