Training module for procurement surgery in organ donation
For prospective procurement surgeons, there is a training program in procurement surgery for organ donation. This consists of 3 parts.
Target audience
The training is for prospective abdominal organ procurement surgeons.
Objective
With this training, participants obtain the procurement surgery certificate. This is a requirement to be allowed to perform abdominal donor operations in the Netherlands.
Content
The training consists of 3 elements:
1. E-learnings
2. Training on the job
Participants perform at least these operations under supervision:
- 10 kidney operations
- 10 liver operation
- 6 pancreas operations
In the Vrest portfolio system, surgeons in training for organ retrieval surgery register their procedures and assessments (OSATS). Subsequently, the supervisors approve this.
3. International Donor Surgery & Organ Perfusion Masterclass
Take the masterclass to learn the standardized surgical techniques.
Accreditation
The Organ Retrieval Surgery training module for organ donation has been accredited with 24 points by the Dutch Association for Surgery (NVvH).
