Sharing of imaging material now possible via the Twiin portal

3 november 2025

From November 2025, it will be possible to share CT scans and other X-ray images of deceased organ donors anonymously via the Twiin portal. Since 2023, a CT scan of the thorax and abdomen has been standard practice for deceased organ donors. These images are of great value for assessing the suitability of the donor and evaluating the organ offer.

Sharing images via the Twiin portal

All Dutch hospitals are familiar with working via Twiin. An additional application has now been built in for deceased organ donors, which meets both legal and quality requirements. We are also simplifying the workflow by providing all involved parties with the same images via a single route.

Contribution to quality and effectiveness

Sharing imaging material in this way was a key request from NTS chain partners. With this improvement, we contribute to ensuring that the donation and transplantation process functions well, is effective, and is of high quality. Together, we provide the best possible donation and transplantation care in the Netherlands.
