Our mission
Organ transplants save hundreds of lives every year. Tissue transplants improve the quality of life for many more people. Together, we save and enrich human lives: everyone in the Netherlands who needs an organ or tissue receives it in time. As a passionate chain director, we realize a fair, smart, and future-proof donation and transplantation process with our (inter)national partners. With appreciation for donors and attention for their loved ones.
Our shared goal
For the 2025–2030 period, we have drawn up a multi-year strategy with our partners. We realize that we can only achieve these ambitions together.
For the coming years, we have a clear ambition with our partners: a fair and smart donation and transplantation process that is ready for the future. The NTS plays a coordinating role in this. We connect, inspire, and facilitate partners.
Stimulating innovation and research
We make decisions based on data, share data with our partners to optimize processes, and structurally evaluate our choices. In this way, we work together to ensure that more organs and tissues are usable for transplantation and last longer. We make the chain from donation to transplantation more value-driven by initiating, directing, facilitating, and implementing (inter)national research and innovation.
Starting the conversation about organ and tissue donation
With careful and accessible information, we ensure that the Dutch people know what organ and tissue donation means. We also encourage the conversation about donation in society, at the kitchen table, and in healthcare, so that people can make a conscious choice and are aware of the choices of their loved ones in the Donor Register.
