Privacy, digitalization, and AI pose challenging legal questions for healthcare. What is possible, what is permitted, and what works in practice? As a Legal Counsel for AI, Privacy, and IT at the Dutch Transplant Foundation, you help make clear and careful choices in this regard.

You advise on privacy at the intersection of health law, draft our legal frameworks for the use of AI, and work on IT agreements. You do this together with a team of enthusiastic and experienced colleagues, within an organization with a special mission:saving lives, enriching lives, together we make it happen.

This is what you will be doing

First of all, you will start working on the implementation of the AI Act. What rules apply to the use of AI in applications that we build ourselves, for example for matching organs and tissues? Are we allowed to have conversations conducted by our Organ Center transcribed using AI? You help formulate clear answers to questions like these and develop AI policy and a practical legal assessment framework.

In addition, you provide solicited and unsolicited advice on various privacy issues. Think of scientific research with transplant data and the use of health data for monitoring the chain from donation to transplantation. In doing so, you base yourself not only on the GDPR, but also on the Organ Donation Act (Wod) and the Body Material Safety and Quality Act (Wvkl). You support colleagues in conducting DPIAs and assess and handle data breaches. You will work closely with our privacy lawyers, the Data Protection Officer, and the Chief Information Security Officer.

Finally, you draft and review IT agreements with our suppliers and chain partners.

Sharp together, moving forward together

You will work from the Legal Affairs team, with expertise in the fields of privacy, health law, procurement law, and contracts. You will liaise with colleagues throughout the organization. You ask sharp questions, bring structure, and dare to set a clear direction. At the same time, you remain curious about what is needed in practice. You are given a lot of freedom in this. There is knowledge to fall back on, room to learn from each other, and trust to take independent responsibility.

This is you

You are a lawyer who likes to take responsibility and gets energy from a field of expertise that is in full motion. You are sharp in terms of content, love clear frameworks, and actively seek collaboration. In doing so, you look beyond the rules alone: you want to understand what is needed and arrive at a solution that is legally sound and works.

You also bring:

  • A university master's degree in law.
  • Speaks and writes fluent Dutch.
  • At least three years of relevant work experience.
  • Good knowledge of and experience with the GDPR.
  • Preferably experience with the AI Act.
  • Preferably experience with IT contracts.

You do not need to know everything about AI yet. We consider a solid legal foundation, curiosity, and the drive to develop further in this area to be at least as important.

What we offer you

At NTS, you combine substantive challenge with social significance. You are given the space to grow, take initiative, and organize your work in a way that suits you.

  • A salary of up to €5,503 gross per month based on 36 hours (FWG 55, Hospitals Collective Labor Agreement).
