An important part of the New Donor File program is renewing and improving the screening and registration of tissue donors.
In this project, we focus on improving the way tissue donors are registered, screened, and recorded. We are doing this by replacing the Vita Aanname application.
Background
The current working method for registering tissue donors has essentially remained the same for years and no longer fits practice well everywhere. In various situations, the process requires customization.
In addition, the process still partly consists of manual steps and separate working methods. This makes it:
- Less efficient to use
- More prone to errors
What is the goal?
We are working towards a tissue donor acceptance process that better aligns with the daily practice of healthcare professionals and supports collaboration within the chain. This means that we make the process:
- Simpler and more transparent.
- Making it more efficient and less burdensome for healthcare professionals.
- Making it more reliable and better supported with modern IT solutions.
To make this possible, we are replacing the current Vita Intake application with a new, future-proof solution. This project is known as 'Vita Intake Replacement' and represents an important step in modernizing the tissue donor intake process.
What do we want to achieve?
With the Vita Intake Replacement project, we are replacing the existing tissue donor notification application with a new, future-proof solution. In doing so, we look not only at the technology, but equally at the process:
- How can we better align with clinical practice?
- How can we make the work simpler and more transparent?
- How can we ensure better and more consistent data registration?
The new solution better supports healthcare professionals in screening and registering tissue donors and reduces administrative burdens.
Collaboration
We are not modernizing the intake process alone. We collaborate with professionals who work with the donor process on a daily basis, such as OC staff, medical officers, and notifiers. We therefore actively involve users in developing, testing, and improving the solution.
Result
By modernizing the screening and registration of tissue donors, we are working toward:
- Reduced administrative burden for healthcare professionals
- A better-supported and streamlined process
- Reliable and consistent data registration
- Better alignment between various steps in the donation chain.
In this way, we contribute to a donation process that is ready for the future and better aligned with clinical practice. The project started in 2026. We expect to complete the new application by the end of 2027.
