Project
New Donor File Program
With the New Donor File (NDD) program, the NTS supports a smart and future-proof organ and tissue donation and transplantation process in the Netherlands.
Go directly to
We are investing in modern applications and optimizing donation processes wherever possible. This increases productivity, improves collaboration, and prepares us for the future.
Background
Donation steps are currently supported by various information systems and not always via digital channels. Sharing information between collaborating partners is complex. Renewal is therefore necessary. We are doing this step by step, using modern IT solutions and smart technological innovations.
What is the goal?
With the new digital donor file (NDD) and modern IT solutions, the NTS is working on a future-proof donation process. We are innovating step by step, aiming for a process that is smarter, safer, and better connected.
- Smart process support
- Stronger collaboration across the chain
- Future-proof technology
- Reliable information provision
Room for innovation
The donation process is subject to renewal. There are constant ideas to improve or supplement the process. A flexible setup makes it possible to respond quickly to changing needs and practical ideas.
Collaboration
The Dutch Transplantation Foundation (NTS) coordinates this program. We carry it out in close collaboration with professionals and partners involved in the steps of the donation procedure. We inventory wishes and, where possible, incorporate them into the program.
Approach and planning
The program runs from 2024 through 2028. During this period, we are renewing the various steps of the donation process. We work on a project basis and build new solutions in phases, with room for testing, learning, and improvement.
In 2026, the project Optimization of donor recognition for organs and tissues is completed. We have started the project Optimization of tissue donor screening: replacement of Vita Intake and the Organ File project: screening, reporting, and tracking.
Another topic that will be addressed in this program is the optimization of bereavement care.
Project Optimize Donor Recognition
In the Optimize Donor Recognition project, we improved the first three steps of the donation process: donor recognition, consultation, and the donation conversation.
